Electronic Cafè

This theme, of the humanization of technology through the equalization of unequal dimensions, becomes directly political in "Electronic Cafè", since it is about the dimensions of community and social organization. Due to the revolution in the field of microelectronics, it will likely be possible in our present decade for almost everyone to employ their own information apparatus as a home industry on a level which has until now only been affordable to corporations. The "Electronic Cafè" is therefore no rhetorical gesture, but rather, a practical model for a real alternative network/archive environment, that can be produced at constantly sinking costs. The duration of the project - six weeks instead of six hours, with the possibility of unlimited prolongation - is important in this respect. It will be possible to talk of a dimension of influence.
